Maverick Festival 2010
"Just like Woodstock!" I heard many people say - and they certainly weren't referring to the weather or the size of the crowd, but simply the vibe. The third Maverick Festival was without doubt the best ever.
Sunshine, moonshine and music conspired to create the unique magic that only a festival can conjure.
Reeling from the loss of The Orbitsuns, whose bass player and guitarist both suffered family bereavements on the eve of their trip to the UK, the illness of Chris Cook, the incompetence of Dayna Kurtz's agent and the unforgiveable truancy of Chris Difford, our wonderful audience bounced back and with the late addition of the gorgeous and talented EVE SELIS and an additional set from the tireless DANNY & THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD we were soon floating in a cloudless sky......
Many thanks to all that participated either as visitors or as part of my wonderful team. Here is an extract from an email that was just one of many received today at Maverick HQ summing up the occasion:
"We had the best time ever, perfect weather, perfect location, perfect music. The location at Easton Farm Park was brilliant, very well run, very safe..... the whole event was very well co-ordinated by the Maverick Team and the Easton Farm Park. The catering arrangements were excellent.....you need not worry about bringing hardly any food or drink as everything was there at a very reasonable price....We think that the Maverick Festival is the ideal way to promote live music. We hope that there will be another Maverick Festival at Easton Farm Park in 2011.
Congratulations to everyone on the Maverick Team!!!!"

Film Programme
In the Tack Room this year, we are pleased to be screening the documentary "GOING FOR A SONG" made by Maverick boss Paul Spencer about CHRIS DIFFORD's song writing workshop at Huntsham Court in Devon. The film follows a group of writers, including Maverick veteran William Topley, as they come together for the first time and get put through their creative paces. Chris wrote many of Squeeze's hit songs while at Huntsham and he will be on call after the screening for a question and answer session. He will also be judging the Maverick songwriting competition and performing a set of his own.
The Maverick Festival is also proud to present in association with Alter States, an exclusive "sneak peak" at "HURRY UP AND WAIT" a brand new documentary which follows the Atlanta band GRINGO STAR on their 2009 European tour. The band have been hotly tipped in the US after a recent advertising campaign for Tommy Hilfiger featured their song "All Y'all".
Their friend and sometime tour-manager, Ian Flavill will be on hand to discuss the film. Ian is also the celebrated promoter of the Chelmsford live music club Alter States
